Cohort 2023 Graduation Ceremony

The graduation Ceremony for the cohort 2023 was held on the 10th May 2024 at ICCS

In attendance were, the President of the Republic, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan, the First Lady, Mrs Linda Ramkalawan, the Minister of Education, Dr. Justin Valentin, Principal Secretaries, CEOs, Members of NIHSS Governing Board, staff, and other guests. All gathered to celebrate the graduates and all they accomplished on their pathway to graduation.  To celebrate the graduates’ determination, tenacity, resilience, and passion, for they have made it to the mountaintop!

70 graduates were awarded their advanced diploma and diploma as follows:
• 12 graduates for the Advanced Diploma in Midwifery
• 8 graduates for the Diploma in Emergency Medical Care
• 14 graduates for the Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences
• 20 graduates for the Diploma in Nursing
• 5 graduates for the Diploma in Pharmaceutical sciences
• 11 graduates for the Diploma in Social Work.

For each respective programme, there were three awards; the best academic performer, the best in practice performer, and the best effort.

In the Diploma in Emergency Medical Care, 

  • Lee Estico was presented Best Academic Performer Award
  • Hakeem August was presented with both the Best Effort Award and the Best in Practice Award

In the Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences, 

  • Shaheem Mondon was presented with the Best Effort Award
  • Elvina Elizabeth was presented with the Best Academic Performer Award
  • Elsa Pool was presented with Best in Practice Awards.

In the Diploma in Nursing, 

  • Beverly Tirant was presented with the Best Academic Performer Award
  • Vanessa Nibourette was presented with both the Best in Practice Award and the Best Effort Award.

In the Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences, 

  • Jean-Vyes Labrosse was presented the Best Effort Award,
  • Shania Lesperance was presented with both the Best Academic Performer Award and the Best in Practice Award

In the Diploma in Social Work, 

  • Shania Dick was presented with the Best Effort Award.
  • Alisun Jean was presented with the Best Academic Performer Award
  • Angelic Boniface was presented with the Best in Practice Award.

In the Advanced Diploma in Midwifery, 

  • Siobhan Rachel was presented with the Best Effort Award.
  • Christelle Elizabeth was presented with both the Best Academic Performer Award and the Best in Practice Award

The participation award recognizes a female and a male learner who has participated actively, and contributed greatly to the cultural and social life of NIHSS. This year the award was presented to Shanice Toule and Hakeem Auguste

The Person-Centered Care Award, presented to the graduates who better model the Person-centered approach was presented to Stanio Mathiot, from the Diploma in Nursing.

The Overall Best in Practice award is conferred to someone who performed exceptionally well on their work-based experience and emulated all values promoted by the health and social sectors. The award was presented to Hakeem Auguste from the Diploma in Emergency Medical Care.

The Overall Best Academic Performer Award conferred to someone who has excelled in all theoretical courses across all Programmes was presented to Beverlly Tirant from the Diploma in Nursing.

The Outstanding Graduate Award is presented to a highly dedicated graduate who has displayed great leadership qualities and exemplary behaviours; who has above-average academic performance and who has actively participated in student life at NIHSS.  This award was presented to Vanesa Nibourette from the Diploma in Nursing.
