In February, the NIHSS Director and the Programme Coordinator of Pre-service Health went for a working visit to Umea University, Sweden. The visit consisted of meetings with different departments and tours of different facilities at the university, Norrland’s hospital (a teaching hospital of the University of Umea) and the Ambulance station. Discussions focused on opportunities for collaboration in terms of staff and learner exchange as well as learning areas of best practice at university which would be beneficial to NIHSS.
As a result of the working visit four Swedish learners had the opportunity to come to Seychelles for their internship for four (4) weeks in April 2024. NIHSS in collaboration with the Health Care Agency organised their clinical placement schedule and supervision at the Seychelles hospital and various health centres. The Swedish learners also had the opportunity to meet and interact with NIHSS staff and learners.
Message from the Sweden learners at the end of their internship;
“We want to thank you for four amazing, challenging, educational and warm weeks here in Seychelles! We take a lot of good things with us and have gained a good understanding of how healthcare is conducted here. We are going back to Sweden filled with new impressions, perspectives, and experiences!” Linnea, Tilda, Stina, Hilda
